PRACTICAL GUIDE · CONTENT CREATION

How I Used Claude to Edit My Videos

I recorded the content. Claude helped me turn everything into a video ready for review.

Using a local folder, detailed instructions, and tools installed on my computer, I organized the files, reviewed the narration, mapped personal information, and assembled the edit for my video.

It was not a magic editing button, but it was a good prompt!

Claude worked with the files in an authorized folder and used tools installed on the computer to analyze and assemble the project.

I provided the videos, photos, narration, and instructions. Claude created the inventory, proposed cuts, organized the sequence, generated captions, including in English and Portuguese, identified possible personal information, and assembled the video with FFmpeg.

Claude coordinated the process. The creative decisions, approvals, and publication remained with me.

What I needed

Items used in this editing workflow
Claude DesktopWork with the files in the authorized folder and coordinate the workflow.
A dedicated project folderBring together the necessary videos, photos, audio, and files.
FFmpegPerform cuts, conversions, and the technical assembly.
Computer storageStore temporary files and versions of the video.
Original filesProvide the material that would be analyzed and edited.
Separate narrationMake transcription, cuts, and synchronization easier.
A detailed promptGuide the stages, rules, and deliverables.
Human reviewApprove the inventory, transcript, timeline, and final result.

The availability of features for working with local files and running tools may vary depending on the plan, application version, operating system, and configuration used.

How to prepare the folder

  1. Create a dedicated folder for the project.
  2. Place only the necessary videos, photos, audio, and documents in it.
  3. Keep a backup copy of the original files.
  4. Remove personal files that are not part of the project.
  5. Use clear names to make the materials easier to identify.
  6. Check that there is enough space available on the computer.
  7. Open Claude Desktop and authorize only the project folder.
  8. Review the permissions granted before starting.

The three approval checkpoints

  1. Checkpoint 1 · Inventory

    Claude organizes the available files, including, when possible, their name, format, duration, resolution, frame rate, and probable role in the video. I review and approve the inventory before moving forward.

  2. Checkpoint 2 · Narration and transcript

    The review identifies repetition, restarts, pauses, cuts, estimated duration, and excerpts that need attention. I approve the narration before assembly.

  3. Checkpoint 3 · Privacy

    The review looks for email addresses, phone numbers, addresses, order or card numbers, labels, screens containing personal information, and other people's faces.

It is important to watch the complete video and review the frames before publishing.

How the edit was assembled

The process combined editorial organization and technical assembly in clear stages:

  • select narration excerpts;
  • organize photos and videos;
  • propose cuts;
  • define the sequence;
  • build the timeline;
  • synchronize the narration;
  • apply subtle movement to still images;
  • use restrained transitions;
  • create Portuguese and English captions;
  • run the technical assembly with FFmpeg;
  • generate a first version for review.

  • Selecting the files.
  • Approving the transcript.
  • Reviewing personal information.
  • Approving the timeline.

A NOTE FROM THE FOUNDER

The idea remains human. Artificial intelligence helps organize the execution.

I recorded the content and decided how I wanted to tell the story. Artificial intelligence helped me organize the files, turn instructions into a timeline, and reduce part of the operational work. The result was better because I remained involved in the decisions.
